Kawachi Bankan Syrup, 10 floz
Kawachi bankan is a grapefruit-sized Japanese native citrus with a high sugar content and a moderate sourness, whose flavor resembles a pomelo. Seikoba Fruit Garden in Kagoshima Prefecture takes a generous helping of the Kawachi bankan harvested from their own orchards, juices it, and blends it with liqueur and sugar from Hokkaido. The result is this superb syrup. It brings you a sweet boost and a refreshing citrus aroma at the same time. You can use it as a drink by diluting with water or soda, or by adding it to cocktails. The syrup is also great when drizzled over desserts like ice cream, yogurt, shaved ice, and pancakes.
Dilute one part of Kawachi Bankan Citrus Syrup to four or five parts soda or water (hot or cold), and you’ll be rewarded with a refreshing drink. Mixing it into cocktails is also a great way to enjoy it. During the hot seasons, make an original chu-hi (shochu with soda and fruity mixers) or a unique citrus flavored-hard seltzer by adding a few drops of the syrup. In the colder seasons, mix it with whiskey and dilute the mixture with hot water to make a Hot Toddy. This versatile syrup effortlessly adds a sweet boost and citrusy zest to desserts like ice cream, yogurt, shaved ice, and pancakes as well. Simply drizzle it over the desserts as much as you want!
